The Early Red Haven Peaches at
Sauvie Island Farms
have all been harvested.
Thanks to all of you who came out over the past two days and picked our first peach variety of the season. The Red Haven Peaches need a few more days to tree ripened. We will let you
know when we can begin picking them. We will not have peaches on Saturday, July 11.
The trees in our peach orchard are celebrating their 40th birthday this year. This is extremely old for a peach tree, and we have been impressed over the past few years in how they keep producing beautiful, sweet fruit.
When you come out to the orchard you will see that we have replanted baby trees between the old guys. It will be a couple more years before they are mature enough for a good crop. Some of our older trees have limbs breaking, and you can tell by their shape that they have endured a lot of weigh over the years. Please be respectful of the trees, do not climb them or pull on the branches. Thanks!!
Today on the farm we are picking beautiful Blue Crop blueberries, marionberries, raspberries, lots of veggies and flowers. There are hundreds of sunflowers blooming!
