Rosa Peaches

It is hot!
Sauvie Island Farms is open during these hot days. Monday-Saturday 8am-7pm.
Peaches are ripening quickly with this weather.  We are picking Rosa Peaches now. These are a great flavored peach, easy to work with and there are plenty to pick right now. If you are waiting for the Veteran peaches, they are ripening quickly also, and may be ready by the end of next week.
Do not wait to get your peaches this year.  They will not be around much longer.
Chester blackberries are sweet, and easy to pick off the thorn less vines.  Bluecrop Blueberries still available, they also won't last much longer.  Yellow raspberries have ripened up again.
Sweet corn, cabbage, zucchini, kale, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, available for upick also.
Beautiful flowers and u-cut herbs.

All our flowers are blooming now also!  So many varieties and colors.
Last weekend our sweet Elisa got married.  She helped us on the farm working at the upick for several summers during her high school and college years.  She is a local island girl, and now a registered nurse and wife!  We are so happy that she used flowers from our farm for her wedding!
Congrats to Elisa & Brandt.

Red Haven Peaches

Sauvie Island Farms
Pick Your Own Red Haven Peaches
 will open Wednesday, July 15.

The crop looks excellent this year, the trees are loaded with beautiful sweet fruit.  This variety is great for fresh eating and many people freeze and can the Red Havens.
Red Havens are classified as a 'freestone' peach, but the pit can cling a bit.

Be selective as you pick the peaches as all are not ripe yet.
If you do pick a few 'green' peaches, set them out, single layer, not touching each other, away from the sun, and they will ripen in a couple of days.
Our Red Haven season usually lasts 10 days but this year everything is NOT usual....so don't wait.  It's time to come out and pick some sweet tree ripened peaches!
Prices are the same as they have been for the past several years:
$1.50 per lb.
over 15 lbs  $1.25 per lb
over 50 lbs  $1.00 per lb

Early Red Haven Peaches are GONE.

The Early Red Haven Peaches at
Sauvie Island Farms
have all been harvested.
Thanks to all of you who came out over the past two days and picked our first peach variety of the season.  The Red Haven Peaches need a few more days to tree ripened.  We will let you
know when we can begin picking them. We will not have peaches on Saturday, July 11.

The trees in our peach orchard are celebrating their 40th birthday this year.  This is extremely old for a peach tree, and we have been impressed over the past few years in how they keep producing beautiful, sweet fruit.
When you come out to the orchard you will see that we have replanted baby trees between the old guys.  It will be a couple more years before they are mature enough for a good crop. Some of our older trees have limbs breaking, and you can tell by their shape that they have endured a lot of weigh over the years.  Please be respectful of the trees, do not climb them or pull on the branches.  Thanks!!

Today on the farm we are picking beautiful Blue Crop blueberries, marionberries,
raspberries, lots of veggies and flowers.  There are hundreds of sunflowers blooming!
