Berries!

This week at Sauvie Island Farms, we have an abundance of 
Early Blue berries, red raspberries and yellow raspberries.

The Early Blue blueberries are loaded with large, sweet fruit.
This is the week to come out for easy picking.

The red raspberries are ripe and ready to be picked.  We have three varieties:  Saanich, Coho and Tulameen.

The yellow raspberries are sweet and ready to be picked also.
All of these berries are $3.00 per lb for u-pick.

Marionberries are not ready to be picked yet, they need a few more days of sunshine to sweeten up.

Fresh picked berries are available by order only this  year.
*Blueberries:  1/2 flat-5 lbs  $20  
  or full flat-10 lbs  $38
*Raspberries:  red or yellow:  
  1/2 pint 1/2 flat-3 lbs  $12.
*Combo - three berries - 
  1/2 pint 1/2 flat 3 lbs  $12

To place an order call 503-621-3988 and leave your name, phone number, type of berry, # of flats or 1/2 flats and day you want to pick up.  Also let us know if you receive text.  We will call or text you back to confirm your order.

We will have 'curbside pickup' if you do not want to get out of your car, park in the designated spots.


Sauvie Island Farms 2020 Covid Safety Info:

*Please leave your personal containers & bags at home, due to cross contamination.  We will provide a box which holds 10 lbs, and a 1 lb. box or bags for you to pick into, for one time use. Do not bring our boxes back to reuse.

*Face masks and gloves are a suggested safety precaution.

*Hand washing stations:  Please wash your hands before entering the u-pick field.

*Social distancing to provide a six foot space while in fields: 
Please do not plan to meet with a group to hang out.

*Do not eat fruit while picking:  This has always been a suggestion at our farm. Now it is required.

*NO picnicking or outside food at the farm:  In the past, we have encouraged families to spend time just hanging out at the farm.  This year, we ask that you come to u-pick only, and leave when you are finished. 

*Children must be with parents at all times:  We are not restricting children from going into the fields, but if this presents as an issue, we may have to make some changes during the season.

*No Dogs or pets allowed on farm property or in parking lot.  Leave your pets at home.  We are inspected each year for Good Agricultural Practices, and this is one of the food safety rules we must abide by.

*Flower cutting:  Bring your own clippers or scissors.
We will have a limited, small amount of scissors which will be cleaned after each use.  If you want you may bring your own bucket to stay in your car until after you have cut the flowers.  We will not have buckets to use and we will not allow your buckets on the farm.

*Fresh picked berries will be by order ONLY. 
We will not have the stand with fresh picked berries this year.

blueberries, raspberries and strawberries

Sauvie Island Farms will begin picking 'Early Blue' blueberries on 

Wednesday,  June 17.  

This variety of blueberry has just started to ripen, so careful picking is required to get the sweetest flavored berry.  

Yellow and red raspberries are ripening. U-pick will open on Wednesday,  Small quantities of sweet ripe fruit can be found in the fields, and you will find there are lots of green that will ripen as we get more sunshine.

Blues and Raspberries at Sauvie Island Farms are $3.00 per lb. for u-pick.

We will not have fresh pre-picked blueberries or raspberries right now, waiting for more to ripen. 

Our strawberries fields are still open for u-pick.  We have a surprising amount of ripe Hood and Shuksan berries in the fields.  We will keep the strawberries open for sure for the rest of this week. 
U-pick strawberry price is $2.50 per lb.

Our Shuksan strawberry field is producing some beautiful berries this week, so we have opened up our pre-picked strawberries by order only for pick up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week only.

The pre-picked is  just for the SHUKSAN variety.  
Hoods and Shuksan are open for u-pick this week.

We have lots of space to social distance while you are at the farm.  We ask that you continue to respect other's space and to please continue to follow our covid safety suggestions.  We welcome you to the crops that we have listed as ripe and ready to pick, and also ask that you do not enter other areas of the farm that are not open for picking.  We are all trying to stay safe while harvesting our crops this year.
