2021 Season is now over.

Sauvie Island Farms is now closed for the 2021 season.

We had a limited number of Christmas trees ready to be cut this year, so we were only open for 2 days after Thanksgiving.

We appreciate all of you that came out over the summer to pick berries and peaches.  Thank you for your interest and support of our family farm.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

 2021 PRICE UPDATE

All Christmas Trees at Sauvie Island Farms will be $40 each this year.

( in the previous post, we listed the prices that we have had for the past several years)

We are open Friday and Saturday November 26 and 27, 9am-5pm

We have some beautiful noble, grand, and douglas firs that are over 10 feet tall. If you do not need a tree that tall, you can cut it off to fit your space, and just pay the $40 price.

We also have many 1-2 foot size trees that we would like left in the field, so they can grow for the next year, but if you really want a small tree, it will be the same price.

We are only open for 2 days this season due to the low numbers of trees left in our field.

2021 CHRISTMAS TREES

Sauvie Island Farms U-cut Christmas Trees will be open

Friday & Saturday

NOVEMBER 26 & 27

9am-5pm.

These are the ONLY 2 days that we will be open this season.

Our tree inventory is very low, due to a shortage in getting new seedlings to replant a few years ago.  We did replant last year, but many of those baby trees suffered damage during the harsh heat we had this past summer.

We do have some nice trees to be cut, just not a large number of them.

Douglas fir $4 per foot

Grand fir $5 per foot

Noble fir $6 per foot

We accept cash, check and credit cards.

We will NOT have wreaths or garland for sale this season.

This is the week......

So many reasons to come to Sauvie Island Farms this week.....

Blueberries:  The Blue Crop blueberries are loaded with sweet ripe fruit now. They have all ripened at the same time and they are so easy to pick.  They need to get picked as soon as possible or they will drop to the ground.  This is the week for picking blueberries!

Some Liberty blueberries are starting to ripen also.

Raspberries:  We surprisingly still have sweet nice raspberries for you to pick.
There is a lot of heat damage in these, but if you look down low in the vines, you can find nice berries.

Marionberries:
Beautiful sweet marions are also hiding in the vines.  A lot of dried up damaged fruit on the top of the plants, but look low inside the shaded areas.

Yellow raspberries:  These suffered the most from the high temperatures we had at the end of June, but there are new fresh berries ripening up. Just look around for them.

Chester Blackberries:  These are just starting to ripen.  There are beautiful berries hiding in the midst of the jungle of vines.  Since these bushe are thornless, it is an adventure to search for the ripest berries.  There are lots more to ripen in the next couple of week.

RED HAVEN PEACHES:  We are opening the orchard on Thursday July 22.  These peaches are classified a free stone, but they do cling to the pit a little.      They have a sweet peachy flavor which makes them a favorite of many.

Veggies: zucchini, cabbage, slicing cukes

Pickling cucumbers: in the next few days the picking will be great for pickle sized cukes.

Green beans: small amount right now w
ith more to ripen in the next week.

Herbs: Dill, cilantro, basil, chamomile, sage, rosemary

Flowers:
LAVENDER.  The lavender is blooming NOW.  It will be over done after this week.  Its the best time to come and cut fresh lavender.

Lot of zinnias, cosmos, bachelor button, glads, daisies, amaranthus, and SUNFLOWERS!!!

end of June...end of the heat wave

As the northwest has just experienced the highest temperatures ever in our area,   Sauvie Island Farms is accessing our berry crops and trying to predict how the next few weeks will be on the farm.

This week:

Blueberries:  Earliblue   All have ripened at once and are ready to be picked.  These do have some sun damage on the upper side of the bushes, but right now the picking is easy and the berries are sweet.  We do not know how this heat will affect the length of the blueberry season.  It may be a shorter than 'normal' season this year.  So don't wait if you want the Earliblues.

Blue Crop  These are ripening quickly also.  Some ripe berries and many green still to ripen.  We are hoping that the green berries ripen as usual.

Red Raspberries:  Raspberries do not like HOT..so they have suffered from this weather.  There are soft, discolored fruit on the vines, mixed in with beautifully ripe and sweet berries.  It's easy to see which ones not to pick.   Tulameen, Saanich and Coho are all ripe.

Yellow Raspberries: These berries took the hardest hit from the heat.  You will find a lot of the ripest are now soft on the vines.  We are hoping that more will ripen in the next week or so.

Tayberries:  Small quantities of ripe berries, with many more that just need a few more days to ripen.

Marionberries:  Beautifully ripe berries hiding in the vines, some sun burned berries are on the topside of the vines.  It will be a short season this year.

Strawberries:  gleaning conditions, very tiny berries hiding in the plants and full of sweet flavor.  It will take some determination to find these, but you are welcome to try.

Cabbage, spinach, zucchini, peas, basil, cilantro, rosemary, lavender, Shasta daisies, and a few other flowers are ready for you!

We are taking orders for prepicked Blueberries and Marionberries.

$40 flat

$22 1/2 flat

Please call or text 503.621.3988 before 5pm the day before you want to pick up your order at the farm.
