The RED HAVEN PEACHES are ripe and ready to be picked this week at Sauvie Island Farms.
These peaches are tree ripened, which makes them so sweet, and they are excellent for freezing, canning and eating fresh.
Our peach orchard is over 40 years old. This year you will see many of the branches are breaking on the older trees. The peaches on these broken branches are still good and ok to pick. Also watch your step while in the orchard, as squirrels have been digging big holes around the trees. And as always, we ask your cooperation in picking only where directed and to pay for the fruit before you eat it.
This week, Blue Crop and Liberty Blueberries are plentiful and easy to pick.
Raspberries and Marionberries are coming to the end of the season quickly, you will need to hunt for them for the rest of this week. Chester blackberries are ripening up and you can find a handful, more to ripen in the next week.
Veggies: Pickling Cukes, green beans, zucchini, cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, beets, lettuce, swiss chard, leeks. Sweet corn may be ready to pick by the end of the week!
Flowers & herbs: sunflowers, zinnia, dahlia, cosmos, marigold, lavender, amaranths, blazing star, globe thistle, bachelor buttons, status, cilantro, mint, rosemary, sage.
