Peaches, flowers and veggies.

This week at Sauvie Island Farms, we are starting to see more flowers open up and bloom. We had a challenge with our dahlias this past winter. Many of the tubers that we left in the ground did not make it thru the winter, so we replanted over 2/3 of our u-cut dahlia garden. The dahlias that are blooming now are on the plants that did survive!

The EARLY RED HAVEN PEACHES are ready for you to pick!!
Pick your own price is $1.50 per lb.
How do we know when the peaches are ripe? As you can see from the picture, the deer have started to come into the orchard and take their 'one bite' per peach.
There are plenty of peaches to go around, so just be careful when you are picking. If you pick one that has a bite in it, just set it on the ground.
We will pick the Early Reds this week, usually once they are picked out the Red Havens are ready to pick. We should have a good peach season this year. Come out for your first taste of a tree ripened peach this season!
We also have pickling cucumbers ready for you to pick. They are PERFECT right now for small sized sweet and dill pickles. We also have some young, tender green beans, small zucchini & yellow squash, lettuce and sugar peas.
OH...and the berries are still great! Tulameen Raspberries, Blue Crop Blueberries and Marionberries are still easy to pick this week!
Hope to see you soon on the farm.
