2020 u-pick season at Sauvie Island Farms

2020,  Covid-19,  Stay at Home.......etc.

This has been an interesting spring.
The stay at home order has not really changed our lifestyle, we live and work at home.

Our grown kids are in the midst of fighting this epidemic, doctors and nurses they are.  So we heard from them and started the "shelter in place" earlier than some Oregonians.
My father passed away in the midst of this epidemic, and I have not seen my mom or my 6 siblings since his death.  It has been surreal.  We will gather, when it is safe for my 92 year old mom to be around people again.

Okay, thanks for listening.

I know there are lots of questions about the upcoming strawberry season, whether the farm will be open for u-pick and how we will be operating this season.
We do plan to open the strawberry fields for u-pick.

The berries are blooming and should be ripe by the end of May.  We know that we will have to change some of our procedures here on the farm, and we are working on how that will look.  We will let you know before opening what we are doing differently to keep our employees safe as well as those of you who come to the farm.
We are also aware that many may not want to 'pick their own' this year, so we will have fresh picked strawberries available, most likely they will be by order only.  We will get the info to you on how to do this as soon as we get it set up.

All of the other berries-raspberries, blueberries, yellow raspberries, marions, tayberries-  look good for this season also.  Peaches have bloomed and are doing great.  We are getting the veggies and flower seeds into the ground, as well as some veggies getting started in the greenhouse.

We hope to offer you the opportunity to come to the farm, get some fresh air, and pick your own fruits, veggies and flowers this summer.

More info coming soon!
